Stack House is a multi-generation family dwelling. It has 2 residential units stacked right above the other. This arrangement thus departs from the usual duplex units that are attached from the side. The easily accessible ground level is programmed for the elder members of the family where they get to enjoy a calm and quiet space with relaxing views to the ground level pocket gardens. The second residential unit at the upper level is programmed for the younger generation where they can continue a rigorous and busy lifestyle without disturbing the elderly. This division extends to its architecture where the ground level uses a palette of raw concrete finishes combined with warm-toned wood surfaces. This is contrasted by the white walls and light-toned wood surfaces of the second level. Each dwelling unit comprises its own living area, dining area, kitchen and bathrooms. The bamboo garden at the rear and the roof deck above is flexible to function as a common service and a lounging space where the family can connect.
